William Gibson

Painter decorator; Came to America in 1913 and lived in Chicago, no children born to this
couple; according to 1920 Census he was 84 years old and his wife was 28. Both were born in England as were their parents. He was a painter of automobiles. They were both alien status and both could read and write (Cook County, Illinois, Enumeration District 1207 sheet 12;


Sarah Ann Spens Mary Hamilton Sally

No children. Lived in Chicago from 1913 on, coming first to live with Lizzie Bartlet, and noted in a letter to Clara Spens Brown that Jack Stonehouse, the son of Jane and Jack came from Lansing Michigan to Bill and me in 1923. Sally (Sarah Ann Spens Hamilton md. Gibson) wrote that Lizzie Bartlet's father and my mother's aunt were brother and sister. Isabella wrote that Lizzie Bartlet was Sarah Ann's first cousin on her father's side.
In May 1939 Sally lived at 1549 North Kolin Avenue, Chicago;


Cuthbert Hamilton

Birth record, Newcastle T., 106 67, 1894 September Quarter; born at 14 Laurel Street in Newcastle, son of Lewis Hamilton and Isabella Irvine Hamilton formerly Stonehouse;
Cuthbert came to America then went back to England and joined the Navy in 1914 according to Harry (Henry Spens Stonehouse). Isabella wrote of this son in 1942: Cuthbert, 47, had been married 25 years and had three children, two of them died 20 years ago and Lewis died a year ago February. He was a fine boy, 6'1'' and 17 years old. They haven't gotten over the loss. Cuthbert, age 77, was still living in 1972 according to Harry Spens in a letter to Fairel and Edna Spens. Cuthbert was often called Cud.


Lewis Hamilton

age 17 at time of death in 1941, 6' 1" tall, last of their three children to
die, the other two having died about 1922. Information from Isabella Brumwell
in 1942 in Chicago.


William Edgar Beaumont Spens

1891 Census, Westgate, Northumberland, England; age 15;
William Edgar B. Marriage record states name as William Edgar Brown Spens rather than William Edgar Beaumont Spens; death record Tynmouth, March Quarter, 1946, age 70 widower, in the infirmary but address was of 6, Highbury, Monkseaton, Whitley Bay, Northumberland; death record burial record register reference #5501.
