Sarah Melba Carter Chesnut, 85, of Lehi passed away Wednesday, January 8, 2003. She was born February 25, 1917 in Lehi, Utah to Josiah and Sarah Hensen Carter. She married Edward LeGrand Chesnut on November 10, 1936. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Melba grew up in Lehi and attended school there. Melba lived in Lehi all her life where she raised her four children and worked in the school lunch program at Lehi Elementary. She was an active member of the LDS Church and served in many callings during her life. The calling she loved the most, was her family.
She is survived by her four children: Michael Chesnut, Lehi; Karen Pendelton, California; Kim (Bernice) Chesnut, Pleasant Grove; and Marc (Alba) Chesnut, Salt Lake; 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1991.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 11, 2003 at 11 a.m. in the Lehi 11th Ward Chapel, 880 N. 700 East, Lehi. Friends may call Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Olpin Family Mortuary, 494 S. 300 East, Pleasant Grove and at the church on Saturday one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Lehi City Cemetery.
