Glenn was named Glenn Irvine Mills and later changed his name to Irvin, not knowing that the Irvine was the maiden name of his mother's grandmother, Isabella Irvine Spens, wife of James Spens.
Glenn has two step sons who keep in touch, according to his sister, Anne, in 1992.
Funeral program: Glen Irvin Mills passed away at the Peter Laugheed Centre on Sunday (Calgary, Alberta, Canada) Dec 14, 2003 at the age of 91. Glenn was born May 3, 1912 in Bassano, Alberta, moving to Calgary at the age of 12 where he spent his entire life. He graduated from East Calgary High School and joined the RCAF in 1942 and was stationed at an airbase in Grander, Newfoundland as a Steam Engineer. After the war, Glenn worked for the CPR, Katchen Bros., CIL, and IKO Shingles. In 1952 Glenn married Kathleen Steeves. They operated a laundromat for 14 years in downtown Calgary. After retiring Glen worked in maintenance at the Ogden Legion Branch #154 of which he was a Lifetime Member (58 years). Glenn is survived by his step-sons: Ken Steeves (Pam) of Grande Prairie and Cam Steeves of Vancouver, B.C.; his grandchildren Rob Steeves of Anaheim, CA, Nancy Steeves of Calgary, Jim Steeves (Carol Ware) of Calgary and Tracy Spratt (Aaron) of Edmonton; and great grandchildren, Heather and Julie, Sarah and Phillip. He is survived by his brother-in-law Frank Tomlinson and sister-in-law Meryl Harrison. Glenn was predeceased by his wife Kathleen in 1989; sisters Viola McCarthy, Rose Gardiner, Anne Tomlinson and brother Les Mills. Leyden's Funeral Home.
