Nathaniel Spens Family Heritage

Nathaniel's earliest known self portrait, "Young Nathaniel Spens," is an oil on canvas painting that was restored in November, 1997 by family members at a cost of $350.  Nathaniel's detailed painting indicates a problem with his" wandering eye" even at this young age. He also showed us his red hair and beard. His sons would tease him about being Irish which would bring out his Scottish temper! There is no signature or date.
